to His Excellency respecting a photograph of a group of guests taken at Devers Jardine Mather's house at East Point in April last, and the circumstances under which you felt compelled to threaten Mr Abfong, the Photographer, with an action, if he did not suppress the photographs. The Governor would be much obliged to you if you would record, in your own words, the statement you made on the subject. Perhaps you would add, in your own words, the remark you made to the Governor as to a certain picture in a book, described by the Governor, and exhibited to you by Mr Q. C. Hayllar, being a very improper picture you should be sorry to have shown to your daughter.
I am, Sir,
Your very truly
